"As I understand it under the Geneva Conventions every country was supposed to interpret it for themselves, and now we have." - White House spokeswoman Dana Perino 4 October 2007 - struggling to explain just exactly how it is that the United States neither allows nor commits acts of torture despite two memos signed by "Gone-zo" Gonzales that say that torture's all right with him.
Is it just me or is the poor woman struggling with this? It seems to me she stumbled over her words whilst trying to come up with rationalisations one too many times.
