The murder trial of US Army Sergeant Evan Vela may shed some light on the use of "bait" by American snipers to trap and kill alleged insurgents or anyone hoping to make some money from the ammunition and detonators that were left lying around to entice "targets". Sgt. Vela is charged with executing an Iraqi with a point blank shot to the head but claims he was following a direct order to do so. I think that Sgt. Vela may find that the Nuremberg precedent may rule out his defence strategy.
