US Navy Captain Keith J. Allred, the judge overseeing the trail of Osama bin Laden's former driver Salim Ahmed Hamdan in the luxurious courtroom at the palatial Guantánamo Bay Beach and Leisure Resort, has barred the introduction of some of Hamdan's statements into evidence just because he may have been tortured roughed up a bit. Why does Captain Allred hate freedom? One can only assume that the Captain will mysteriously disappear shortly.

It turns out that people, or at least Brits, are more paranoid than previously believed. (They never listen to me!)

I confess I haven't been following the 137th inquest into the death of Princess Diana much to my sister's chagrin. She is an irrepressible Di-worshiper. But I did think today's news that she thought that her phone calls were being tapped notable because they were. She should have known better than to be sleeping with a Muslim!

Have the CIA, the NSA or the DHS started to deploy flying robot insect spies in order that they may better keep track of America's enemies such as septagenarian Quakers and anti-war soccer moms? Call me cynical but even though there was a time when I would have said "no fucking way you paranoid idiot" with these guys in charge one can never really know.
