...as Newt Gingrich, serial divorcer and general scumbag, considers seeking the Republi-con Presidential nomination next time around. Should he run I confess I am conflicted as to whether Mr. Gingrich or Ms. Palin might do the party more damage. Perhaps she would settle for second fiddle again.

In praise of the efficiency of Michael Steele
The new Republi-con National Chairman has managed, in one simple visit to George Stephanopoulos on a Sunday morning, to increase the US unemployment rate to somewhere about 25-30% as he brazenly announces that government jobs aren't jobs at all. I certainly hope that the good people of the great state of Maryland invoice this upstanding American for the somewhere around $500,000 he didn't earn as the Lieutenant Governor of Maryland as, after all, it wasn't a job.
He may be black but there is no doubt of his authenticity as a Republi-con, now is there?

So this would be the farce bit
Karl Marx (am I allowed to say his name as an American?) once famously said that "history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce".
With that reminder I bring you the news that not-Joe the non-plumber now seems to have a job as a non-adviser to the Republi-cons. It just doesn't get any better than this...

Terrorist fifth columnists expose themselves in Washington
US Representative Pete Sessions (Republicon-TX) admits that his party views the Taliban as role models.

I, for one, am not all that sympathetic
In the middle of a recession a federal judge from Connecticut is resigning because he can't seem to get by on his salary of $169,300; an income that, without any additions and I'm sure he has some, puts him well within the top 5%. Of course, he is a Republican!

The (nearly) Empress's Old Clothes
It seems that the extravagant wardrobe purchased for the extraordinary Sarah Palin by the Republicans during the campaign remain undonated to charity and languishing in bin liners in an RNC office somewhere. Of course the Republican escape clause is that they had said that "it was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign". The Republican Party's slogan ought to be "We Aim to Please It's Just That Our Aim Is Lousy".
There is still no word as to the eventual last rest place of Todd Palin's silk pants.

It will almost certainly come to nothing...
...but for the moment the indictment of "I'm a Big" Dick Cheney and Alberto "Gone-zo" Gonzales in Texas allows a man to dream. I mean who wouldn't pay to see those two in chains!

"Well if you want us to count ALL the votes...
...maybe we won't send a convicted felon back to the Senate.

Well you have to admit they're consistent
Captain Codpiece and his evil minions have been hard at work pushing through anti-plant and anti-human regulatory changes at the behest of their good friends and benefactors in the country's boardrooms. The thinking was that if they pushed the changes through by 1 November that Obama wouldn't be able to overturn them without restarting the lengthy and complicated consultation process. Fortunately for the planet and the humans the legal minions seemed to have forgot to read their law books.

Rush Limbaugh - secret Stalinist
The big fat idiot is planning a purge of the Republican Party and only the purest of the pure true believers will remain. Whether he will introduce a random drug testing policy is not, as yet at least, certain.

Ramb-ette's last laugh
She may have failed to stir up the religious right enough to push The Aged One to victory but should, as appears likely, the people of Alaska elect a convicted felon to the US Senate she will, I think, get to appoint a replacement after his inevitable resignation; at least until a special election can be held.

Cloud cuckoo land (Alaska style)
Convicted felon, and cranky old person, (hopefully soon to be ex-)Senator Ted Stevens is claiming he has been convicted of anything. I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. After all when we're his age we're all going to forget a thing or two, aren't we?
With some Republican you hardly have to scratch the surface at all
Meet David Storck, chairman of the Republican Party of a county in Florida and repentant spammer who sent out a email to his loyal supporters complaining about
"car loads of black Obama supporters coming from the inner city to cast their votes for Obama...This is their chance to get a black president and they seem to care little the he is at minimum a socialist and probably Marxist in his core beliefs....After all he is black- no experience or accomplishments but he is black."
His explanation for this wee slip up is that he forgot to read the email first; so he's just an idiot and not an idiotic racist then.

Today in Schadenfreude
It's been a long time coming but Alaskan slimeball (soon to be ex-) Senator Ted Stevens is is now a convicted felon. But before we feel too sorry for the ranting octogenarian there is always the possibility that he will get a pardon from Captain Codpiece and he is still eligible for his Congressional pension not to mention the tax payer funded socialised health care benefits he's in line for as well.

(Not so) proud to be Pennsylvanian
The New York Times reported yesterday that an email being sent to Jewish voters in Pennsylvania from the Republican Party's "Victory 2008" Committee and signed by prominent supporters of The Aged One likens voting for Obama to the rise of Hitler. Clearly the Republican GPS is set to send them rather permanently down the low road.

Nice
Until recently the GOP website in Sacramento CA had postings that sought to link Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden and to waterboard the Democratic candidate. But it's OK; they've taken it down so "no harm no foul".

Oh dear!
Ramb-ette and her husband have released their tax returns for the past two years and, low and behold, they are just a typical American working class family with an income of around $200,000 last year with a net worth of around $1,000,000; just like you an me! It also appears that there may be some income missing and yet, ah shucks, she just doesn't seem like the sort to cheat on her taxes...
The good news is that she'll still get a tax cut from President Obama.

If you set the bar low enough...
...even Ramb-ette might be able to clear it. David Brooks tells the Sunday morning talks shows that Ms. Palin is smart enough to "rise to the level of mediocrity."
And he's on her side!
