Human Rights Watch has released a report entitled "No Easy Answers: Sex Offender Laws in the United States" that concludes that current American laws, both state and federal, are "ill-conceived and poorly crafted" and that a "a more thoughtful and comprehensive approach than politicians have been willing to support" is required. I am certain that American politicians and media pundits will read the report (at 146 pages it represents 292 days of reading for most of them), give it careful consideration and consider what modifications to legislation is required to improve the situation.
The full report, for those lawmakers and pundits who are interested, is available here.
