You knew it was too good to last. When Judge Robert Hanson declared that the state government's refusal to accept marriage licence applications from same sex couples violated the state's constitution the other day you knew it was a matter of time.
The time that mattered was less than 25 hours before a second judge ordered a stay.
However our congratulations are due to ever vigilant and alert Sean Fritz and Tim McQuillan of Ames who managed to obtain a licence before the stay was granted and managed to get married by Unitarian pastor Mark Stringer, who I can proudly tell you shares my surname, in the Reverend's front garden. So mazel tov to Sean and Tim!
