Well they probably shouldn't be using that Chinese toothpaste

The US Consumer Products Safety Commission, which is responsible for ensuring product safety and protecting consumers interests, is "toothless" and undermanned according to critics who are looking for increased funding and broader enforcement powers for the agency. Over the past forty years funding for the agency has seen staff numbers dramatically reduced; the commission has only 401 full time staff. Enforcement powers are also limited to fines of 1.5 million USD or just a slap on the wrist for most violators.

And who is in charge of ensuring that American consumers are safe from "unreasonable risk and death"*? One Nancy Nord who has a lengthy CV as a corporate attorney and has therefore generally worked the other side of the fence. So she knows what they get up to! Another excellent choice George.

*There must be another department in charge of "reasonable" risk and death I guess.
