Al-Megrahi is the former Libyan intelligence agent who was convicted of the bombing of Pan-Am flight 103 over Lockerbie Scotland. His appeal is due to be held in the Scottish Court of Appeals with fresh information coming to light that key evidence at his trial was tampered with.
