Mired in third place and going nowhere whilst the Tories and New Labour fight it out the Liberal Democrats, under dynamic young leader Ming Campbell, are looking for something to stimulate interest in the party and put they back in the hunt. Mr. Campbell seems to the think calling for a written constitution, a very good idea, to be written, in part, by the general public, a very bad idea, is just the ticket. I beg to differ. The next time you are on a bus or a train look about you at your fellow travellers and try to find someone who you might consider to be a likely candidate for constitution writing. See what I mean?
