The freedom agenda marches on

Loyal Bush ally Pakistani President Pervez "The General" Musharraf has suspended the constitution and declared emergency rule. He has also sacked nine judges, including previously sacked Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, for refusing to agree to his order.

Rumours that, upon hearing this news, Captain Codpiece was on the phone immediately to ask The General for pointers as to how an unnamed president in another country, who was only referred to as "a friend of mine", could go about do the same cannot be confirmed at this time.

You don't suppose that Benazir Bhutto had warning that this was about to happen when she slipped off to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday ostensibly to visit her family, do you?
