The pay isn't great but then there are the perks

Acting head of the US Consumer Products Safety Commission Nancy Nord, who strongly objects to Congressional attempts to increase the powers and finances of her organisation in the wake of a series of product safety scandals, has taken dozens of trips paid for by the toy, appliance and furniture industries.

It is a good thing that Ms. Nord is such an upstanding woman and would never allow these gifts to alter her judgement or affect her official decisions in any way.
