This story from today's Guardian about students in the African nation of Guinea who have to travel to the airport or hang about petrol stations at night to do their schoolwork as their families have no access to electricity dented my cynicism about today's young people a bit. Can you imagine an American or British ten year old who would be willing to do this? I can't. Perhaps the future is in Africa.
For your information the average Guinean consumes about 0.6% of the electricity of your average American.
