Smug, snide and downright irritating "pundit" Bob Novak tells that the idea of a black or female Democratic nominee for President gives Republicans hope". Of course it does. It would allow them to play, subtly or not, to the prejudices and fears of their base and give them a means to drive turnout even without a credible candidate of their own.
Note: whilst there is a woman amongst the Democratic wannabe there is not, as far as I am concerned, a black in the group. I refuse to adhere to the Jim Crow rules which define Barack Obama as black and will, from this point forward at least, refer to him as what he is - mixed race. If the press and the blogsphere continue to refer to him as "black" I might have to resort to referring to him, equally accurately, as "white" to try and keep things in balance. Why are we all so afraid of interracial offspring?
