I have been wondering about the Bush administration decision to finally release the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran. It was over a year late as it was and Sy Hersch, among others, has been reporting for some time that hard liners in the White House, led by "I'm a Big" Dick Cheney, have been holding up its release and trying to force the intelligence community to bend to their will and position the country for an attack against Iran. Surely, had they really wished to, they could have kept the lid on it for somewhat longer. Have they allowed it out so that the neo-con talking heads could make the rounds of the friendly networks to discredit it and attempt to sway public opinion without any facts behind them?
If that is their idea it would seem to be working.
