Should allegations made about al-Qaida and Iraq prior to the US invasion by Omar Nasiri prove to be true we may finally have the real reason for the Iraq war.
Why did we invade Iraq? According to Mr. Nasiri becaue al-Qaida wanted us too! Mr. Nasiri claims to have spent seven years working for European intelligence services as an agent inside bin Laden's network. He says that US forces captured an al-Qaida operative, Ibn Sheikh Al-Libi, and then turned him over to Egypt where he was tortured. During this interrogation he falsely "claimed that al-Qaeda were using Iraq as a training ground for terrorists". Nasiri confirmed that this was done specifically to plant the idea with Western security forces and lure the US into war.
