This could start a trend

The World Society for the Protection of Animals is offering bidders an unique way to save a whale's life on EBay. They accepting bids on the life of a marine mammal and once the auction is complete it will offer the funds raised to the government of Iceland, which recently resumed commercial whaling, in exchange for the life of one whale. Should Iceland heartlessly decline the offer the monies raised will go the WSPA's campaign against commercial whaling instead.

This opens up a whole new field of commercial opportunity. I suggest auctions for the life of a friend of Dick Cheney or an offer to buy the life of an ordinary Iraqi from Donald Rumsfeld.
