Once upon a time an idealistic Tony Blair, the last flush of youth still on his cheeks, would dream of the days after he leaves office. In these nocturnal wanderings he would envision the historians sharpening up their pencils in order to write scholarly yet sycophantic tomes with titles such as How Tony Blair Saved Britain, United Kingdom Rising - The Tony Blair Years or Peace, Prosperity and Happiness; Welcome to Tony Blair's World. These dreams were, of course, back in the halcyon days before the illegal invasion of Iraq went into the hopper and the various scandals surrounding lolly-for-Lordships and BAE Systems crept into the public arena. Now, it seems, he regrets something. He says that the way he has handled his long but strangely not triumphant exit from Downing Street was a mistake.
Let us all shed a tear for poor Mr. Blair and hope that the days he spends managing his real estate portfolio are happy ones.
