The coroner's inquest into the killing of British troops at the hands of American aircraft in Iraq continues with the full cooperation of Britain's great ally the United States of America. The presiding coroner had made a few requests of our good friends in Washington. Here is how they turned out:
Access to the American forces rules of engagement in Iraq - DENIED
Access to the American forces complete report on their investigation into the incident - DENIED
Requests for witnesses from the US forces to appear in court or, as an alternative, an opportunity for the coroner to interview them in the US - DENIED
Access to the American pilot's training records - DENIED
Access to the American pilot's flight data - DENIED
British constitutional affairs minister has described the American refusal as regrettable. That should stir the Septic's to action no doubt!
