Gone-zo watch (day 22)

US Attorney General and Bush succubus Antonio Gonzales has managed, as I predicted, to survive the holiday weekend but not completely unscathed. The Democrats have long since turned on him, more recently some members of his own party have turned on him and now members of the amphibian class are turning on him. Former Speaker of the House Newt "Newt" Gingrich has called for the unhappy man's resignation. Not looking good.

England football coach Steve "I've never really coached a winning team and it doesn't look like I'm going to start now" McClaren had a reasonably quiet weekend but there are still rumblings as rumours abound that a number of powerful Premiership chairmen what McClaren out and Terry "El Tel" Venables in. As a supporter of Crystal Palace, who Venables almost ruined in his second tenure as coach there, I don't care who Tel coaches as long as it ain't us!

(To be continued...)
