American food prices are rising and whilst there are a number of factors causing this increases in prices one of them is the increasing demand for maize driven by use of the grain in the creation of ethanol for automotive fuel. As irritating as these minor prices rises are to the average American family perhaps they should think of the impact on those who have to live on less than two USD a day. If Americans can afford to fill up their tanks it is not their fault if this causes some unfortunates to go hungry, or worse. It is simply the all knowing, infallible and invisible hand of the market at work. It is never wrong. All hail Adam Smith!
