Perhaps if the results of more lawsuits against multinational corporations were similar to this settlement with BP over the refinery explosion in Texas City perhaps our attitudes towards the legal profession might be different. Key elements of the 1.2 billion USD settlement include:
- 32 million USD in donations to local hospitals and schools including the school at which the late mother of the plaintiff used to work
- Public release of damaging documents related to BP's safety practices and decisions.
