Every time someone travels into or out of the US a recently revealed US government programme, called Automated Targeting System (ATS), assigns them a terrorist risk score. The government intends to retain the score and the information on which it is based for forty years. No one has the right to find out what score they have been given or to challenge it. The programme takes into account such diverse factors as travel pattern, seat preference, one way v round trip tickets and choice of meal.
I have a few pointers for those who wish to stay off the "no fly" list.
I have a few pointers for those who wish to stay off the "no fly" list.
1) If you are Muslim stay away from the halal meal! Go with kosher instead. The second possible choice of vegetarian should be avoided as you might fall into the "dangerous lefty" category instead.
2) Even if you are returning by train always buy round trip.
3) A travel pattern that consists only of flights between Detroit and Peshawar should be avoided at all costs.
4) Never pay cash.
5) Shave off all facial hair. It's not on the list of things they track but it's better to be safe than sorry.
6) Don't ask the flight attendants for the direction to Mecca.
Remember we have nothing to fear but fear itself!
