A 62 year old woman from Gloucestershire has been found guilty of a pattern of abuse in her role as a foster mother over nearly 20 years. I won't describe here the actual acts she was convicted of but trust me there were horrific. The woman, described as a devout Jehovah's Witness and a "pillar of her local community", apparently believed that the children in her care were "evil".
Irrespective of how horrible this woman's acts were there is clearly something very wrong indeed with a system in which this behaviour could have gone undetected for so long.
