Since many of us seem to have forgotten perhaps this is a good time to remind us all that the victims of the 1984 "accident" at Union Carbide's chemical plant in Bhopal India are still waiting for something resembling justice for the tens of thousands of lives lost. Union Carbide is now owned by Dow Chemical who is making an attempt to re-enter the Indian market. Now four survivors of the tragedy are embarking on a hunger strike in order to highlight the continuing difficulties suffered by the survivors and the Bhopal community as a whole.
Maybe the US could help a bit by looking for Warren Anderson, Union Carbide's former Chairman who is wanted on an international arrest warrant issued by Indian authorities. The US has claimed in the past that they couldn't find him even though he seems to be living at home.
