Despite administration assertions that the US has no plans for a permanent presence in Iraq the Secretary of Defense might have let something slip yesterday when he stated that the US will be "defending [its] interests for decades to come. And we will do all in our power to protect and defend our homeland".
At least until the oil runs out anyway.
