Things in the Tory party are still disturbingly, well, sensible. Earlier this week a front bencher got sacked for suggesting that ethnic soldiers should expect to be called "black bastards" and that such a reference was no worse than calling a redhead a "minger". Now the party that is swiftly stealing the ground to the left of New Labour (and there's a lot of it) says that frequent flyers should be taxed on their travel. Go ahead, close your eyes and imagine a Republican suggesting that. Hell, try and imagine a Democrat saying that!
