The existential crisis facing America

If you are what you eat than Americans can no longer know who they are. Genetically modified produce and ingredients are not identified, in fact GM crops are sometimes approved after they have "accidentally" got into the food chain. The US Department of Agriculture is going full bore ahead with approval for the consumption of cloned animals, again without tracking or labelling requirements.

We shouldn't, therefore, be surprised to learn that less than 1.5% of imported food products are inspected even though the results of such inspections regularly show a statistically significant and high level of goods unfit for human consumption. The FDA does not have the capacity to increase what is inspected nor does it have plans to do so.

Americans consume over 100 kilos of imported foods annually, over 10% of their diet.

I hope everyone had a lovely breakfast and thoroughly enjoys their lunch.
