I've always had a thing for librarians so it should be no surprise that I have selected George Christian, a librarian who fought the FBI, and won, over access to the library records of Americans, for this coveted and only occasionally award gong. I quote from his prepared testimony before a subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee:
"Terrorists win when the fear of them induces us to destroy the rights that make us free."
