Maybe Attorneys General are not supposed to get involved with things. After all I unquestioning believe US Attorney General (and Bush succubus) Antonio "Gone-zo" Gonzales when he says that he wasn't involved in the sacking of the US Attorneys so why shouldn't I believe Australian Attorney General Philip Ruddock when he says that he wasn't involved with the plea bargain deal that saw Australian David Hicks released from Guantánamo Bay Holiday Camp in which he would be imprisoned for a additional but short time in his home country but forbidden to speak to the Australian press for three months after his release. By the end of Hicks's period under the Cone of Silence the next election should conveniently be over.
