A British resident, recently freed without charge from the American run holiday resort at Guantánamo Bay Cuba after five years in custody, has harshly criticised the US government for failing to provide an adequate or fair legal process. Bisher al-Rawi, an Iraqi national with legal British residence, was arrested in the Gambia, along with another British resident who is still interred, whilst travelling back to the UK with what was described as "suspicious electrical equipment" but which their lawyers contend was a simply batter charger.
Of Guantánamo al-Rawi says:
Of Guantánamo al-Rawi says:
"The hopelessness you feel in Guantánamo can hardly be described. You are asked the same questions hundreds of times...Allegations are made against you that are laughably untrue, but you have no chance to prove them wrong. There is no trial, no fair legal process."
Since Mr. al-Rawi is an evil doer, the Decider(TM) has told us so on many occasions, we must treat his allegations as specious and libellous. I hope Rumsfeld sues him. I really, really do.
