Safety first

About a quarter of all of the aid money Britain has sent to Iraq, out of a total of £644 million, has been spent on private security. A significant portion of this went to British firm ArmorGroup and Control Risks, headed by Tory MP Sir Malcolm Rifkind. (Note: There is no suggestion of impropriety on Sir Malcolm's part.)

The US diverts an even higher proportion of a much higher aid figure with a recent audit showing over a third of American spending going to private security firms, many of whom are Republican contributors. I think that one might easily imagine that there IS a hint of impropriety in this.
