Time to say enough is enough!

Just before I logged off yesterday and went out for the evening a BBC alert came across saying that 20 people had been killed at Virginia Tech. As earlier reports had said that 20 people were injured I just assumed that this was a terribly unfortunate typo and didn't think anything more about it. I was out for the evening, away from the telly, and went straight to bed went I got back to the flat. It wasn't until I got a paper this morning that I realised the true horror of what had occurred. My heart goes out to the family, friends and loved ones of those killed or injured. It should never have happened.

Will this, perhaps, be the stimulus that the American public need to finally realise that guns do kill people? I hope so and fear not although the ever defiant National Rifle Association has this restrained statement on it's website.

I was going to threaten to rip out the tongue of the first person to suggest that had all of the Virginia Tech students been armed to the teeth that this would never have happened. What an opportunity this provides me as the first example I came across was from everyone's self-hating immigrant Michelle Malkin. This discovery was swiftly followed by similar drivel from "Professor" Bainbridge, the strangely seductive Debbie Schlussel (who also takes pains to point out that the shooter is rumoured to be a bloody foreigner), someone called Conservative Beach Girl, the Gates of Vienna and countless others. I wonder if they realise how petty, pathetic and really very small they sound? Probably not.
