The barbie's still on then?

The Agriculture Department's undersecretary of food safety, Dr. Richard Raymond, has moved to reassure the American public after Topps Meat Co. had to recall over 20 million pounds or nearly 10 million kilos of groud beef that could have been infected with E. coli. Dr. Raymond tells us that the nation's "meat supply is the safest in the world". (Excuse me for chuckling.)

In related news the possibly cattle industry linked website CattleNetwork.com reminds us that we shouldn't be expecting the government or industry to ensure that food is safe as "Consumers Are Responsible For Beef Safety Too"!
