The UK is preparing a claim to over 1,000,000 square kilometres of Antarctica or as the Energy Current website out of Texas more succinctly puts it "Britain moves for Antarctica's oil and gas". I am sure that this has little to do with trying to keep Argentina and Chile from claiming what is rightly theirs and is actually all to do with saving cuddly penguins.
