In praise of glorious English beer

I'm suspicious of this. The Guardian informs us today of a survey that says that British men are abandoning the pint and soon will be quaffing wine down the boozer with their mates. According to the article a full 68% of British men prefer "to share a bottle between friends rather than taking it in turns to buy rounds of beer". I often like a glass of wine but my drink of preference down the pub is real ale. I certainly have seen no evidence of two thirds of men huddled around a bottle of red next to the dartboard. Perhaps it has something to do with the poll being commissioned by the "French Wines campaign, which is funded by the French ministry of agriculture".
