What, exactly, do you believe to be human rights? Please tell me. Spell it out. For the purposes of this discussion a human right is one that ALL MEN AND WOMEN on earth can expect to be applied to them.
The Bush administration is now arguing in a federal court in Virgina that, under current law, it can hold immigrants arrested in the US "indefinitely on suspicion of terrorism andmay not challenge their imprisonment in civilian courts".
So if the US government believes you to be a terrorist you HAVE NO RIGHTS and that is it. Can this idea be squared with any philosophy that holds that there are certain rights that ALL humanity can expect and which cannot legitimately be voided?
