Is it possible that any Security Council resolution that is critical of Israel will ever again be acceptable to the United States or is Israel now the first state to become permanently immune from UN censure? Once again the US vetoed a proposed resolution that would have called for Kofi Annan to takes states to address the current situation, including "the possible establishment of an international mechanism for the protection of the civilian populations".
