I'm not sure why the New Scientist magazine picked the year 2056, quite possibly because it is fifty years from now, which is the year I will be 100 years of age should several (at least) medical miracles occur in the interim, for the year in which they would ask prominent scientists for predicitions about the state of life on Earth.

- A limitless supply of spare organs
- Hard evidence of the existence of aliens
- An explanation of the big bang (which occurred either billions of years ago or around 6100 years ago depending on who you believe)
Interesting there doesn't seem to much mention of climate change - perhaps that is viewed as a foregone conclusion.
