A key aide to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, speaking anonymously, has accused the police of poisoning British politics with their ongoing inquiry into the lolly-for-Lordships scandal. The aide claims that the lingering investigation which is ongoing should be wound up because the police had originally indicated that it would be complete by September.
Well he or she shouldn't worry as it seems that the Old Bill are are on the brink of turning the whole mess, including up to a dozen massive files, over to the Crown Prosecution Service and that they hope to charge up to four individuals.
Assuming that the charges will be levelled against at least one top New Labour figure will the Prime Minister finally find it in his heart to stand aside and let Gordon have a go, however brief, or will he insist on being dragged screaming and kicking from Number 10 thereby damaging his beloved party even more?
