A trick of the light

Scientists at Harvard claim to have made a light pulse stop, then move over yonder and then go its merry way. For those of us who have struggled for years to understand the basics of relativity and quantum mechanics and who were taught that the speed of light is a constant, which infers to me that it can't bloody well stop, this is confusing and disturbing.

Should there be anyone out there who can explain the meaning of this or, if you desire less of a challenge, the meaning of life in nice simple words I would greatly appreciate it.
