Once a trusted employee of the American occupation forces in Iraq Mohamed Abdul Kareem now finds himself as just another refugee from the war trying to find a new life in Syria. He sought help from the US Embassy in Jordan and his calls and emails to former friends and colleagues in the American armed forces have gone unreturned. He fled Iraq after a friend and fellow interpreter was killed by a road side bomb and his father was shot, but not killed, by insurgents.
As they say a friend in need is a friend indeed and as I say a friend who deserts you when you truly need them is just scum.
