Ethnic cleansing (I)

What does it take before the world begins to refer to what is happening in Gaza as what it really is, ethnic cleansing? We now learn that Israeli military commanders knew that a change that they made to their rules of engagement would lead to an increase in civilian deaths but went ahead anyway. What has actually occurred? An increase in civilian deaths and other casualties.

It is also clear that the economic stranglehold that Israel has imposed on the Gaza strip in particular, but all Palestinian territories as well, is meant to force emigration and death. Their policies include a refusal to hand over tax receipts owed to the Palestinian authority effectively bankrupting the government, capricious closure of the borders preventing exports and imports as well as prohibiting Palestinians access to employment in Israel and a prevention of the fishing fleet from leaving Gaza harbour. The people are slowing starving and the anger is increasing. It is clear that this policy will not, indeed cannot, lead to the stated goals of ending the occasional rocket attacks on Israeli targets which include illegal settlements.
