Even though we really require no additional proof today we have additional evidence that Germans don't have a sense of humour. Pope Benedict's private secretary, Georg Genswein (seemingly also of German extraction) has criticised Italian television shows that regularly satirise the infallible one. In his words
"Satire is fine. But these things do not have any intellectual quality and offend men of the church. They are not acceptable."
Personally I think he should just lighten up. It's not as if he has God's ear or anything!
