There either is or isn't a civil war raging in Iraq today. Whatever you may wish to call it there is no doubt that it is nasty. It could soon get worse.
When the US leaves (there isn't an "if" anymore is there?) will the Saudi government step in to arm and support the Sunnis? If so will the Iranian support of the Shias become more comprehensive and more overt? And what of the Kurds? We will stand by and hope the Arab populations destroy themselves or will they violently stake out their claims to the oil fields in the North?
Civil war. Proxy war. Does it make a difference?
