The largest hospital trust in the UK, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, may shed up to one thousand staff to try and plug a major hole in their finances but the government is planning to spend twelve million quid to publicise the ban on smoking in most public places that will be implemented next summer.
What is there to publicise? Is there anyone in the country that doesn't know about it? If there is they probably don't go out nor smoke (and therefore probably wouldn't see the adverts anyway).
Does something happen to people's brains once they get into government so that they are incapable of seeing sense or do only people without sense seek careers in government? I can't think of another option.
