Religious groups in the UK are set to protest outside of Parliament (I hope they have a permit!) against laws which will prohibit discrimination against homosexuals in employment, accommodation and elsewhere. The religious groups claim that this will require them to violate their religious beliefs and, in an attempt at scaremongering, have suggested that it will force them to close adoption services, homeless shelters and other charitable services.
What is it about homosexuality that gets them so wound up and why does the government not just tell them to go away as they would if they were suggesting faith-based discrimination based on race or sex?
In today's Guardian Polly Toynbee comes out swinging on the issue.
