Bait and switch

Police involved in the investigation into the alleged plot to kidnap and decapitate a Muslim British soldier are concerned that the government is making details of the investigation public in order to divert attention from a host of problems. With one of the alleged plotters still at large the police are worried that their efforts will be unfavourably affected by this political intervention and they also believe that community relations will be suffer as well.

Some of the more lurid details that have found their way into the mainly tabloid press, such as that two British soldiers offered to be "live bait", have been refuted by the police service.
