George the First marches on into history

American Emperor George I (The Decider (TM)) has moved to increase his authority and to throttle that of the duly elected representatives in the legislative branch by signing an executive order that ensure that regulators at all government departments will now report to a new layer of political appointees. After all the congressional hearings into the use and non-use of scientific evidence in the Bush administration to date has proved how how effectively this can work by ensuring that words and phrases that are unpleasant or damaging to their friends in the corporate America are just not used. I think that they should go one or two steps further.

Firstly they could effectively privatise all of these positions by taking in public relations officers from the corporate world on loan, just like is done in football, for a fixed period of time after which they would return to their previous jobs at ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Monsanto or the International Arabian Horse Association.

Secondly all of these new positions (conservatives take note of this Republican driven increase to the already bloated bureaucracy) should report directly to a new cabinet level position called the Minister of Truth. I know they are not American but either Max Clifford or Peter Mandelson would be excellent choices for this new role.
