The Saudi Arabian government, apparently tired of waiting for the do-nothing Bush administration to do something re the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, may have won a diplomatic coup by convincing Hamas and Fatah to come to a power sharing arrangement that will hopefully put an end to the internecine warfare between the two groups. The White House, as ever, remains sceptical.
I think that the Saudi's don't deserve all the credit however. I think that the good karma contributed by the name of the newly named British Consul General in Jerusalem, Richard Makepeace, needs to be considered as well.
