The war crimes division of Scotland Yard* have opened a criminal investigation into the killing of ITN reporter Terry Lloyd in Iraq by American fire. Mr. Llloyd was in the back of an ambulance and already wounded when he was killed.
The police have managed to determine the identities of those Marines who were responsible and it is reported that members of the police force will be going to the US to continue the investigation. The US has resisted calls for the investigation, have not so far cooperated and did not allow servicemen to attend the inquest into Lloyd's death. The inquest found that Mr. Lloyd had been "illegally killed".
This could put a wee dent into that special relationship between Messrs. Bush and Blair and may scotch any chances Mr. Blair might have had for a free holiday at the President's country estate in Texas.

* Note - do you reckon that the FBI actually has a war crimes, or "Crimes Against Humanity team" as the Met styles it?
